    Hi Florida Girl,

You might want to add some weight training to your walking, like carrying 3 to 5 lb weights with you or find a gym that offers a membership around $; I work from home so I try to get there in the morning or mid day. This could burn more fat and take off those extra pounds.  Good luck.

     Re: Senior citizen

[:)I am also a senior who is having a hard time loosing some weight. My problem is, I think, portions.

I love to cook and prepare each meal happily. I choose a varity of vegetables but seem to not desire meat much anymore. I know beans, and some vegs contain protein but find I must take Vitamin 12 to cover days where I find no protein was consumed. I also drink lots of skim milk, eat a cottage cheese or yogurt a couple times a week and eat eggs maybe 2 a week.

I rarely eat bread but do enjoy spaghetti, maybe once a month and I eat a great plate full covered in Newman's Sockarooni. I buy frozen vegs cause I cant eat fresh because it is too much for one person.

I do make salads with lots of vegs in them. I can't seem to eat enough fish. I hate the smell that lingers in my efficiency so I use salmon or tuna canned. I love to bake cake and cookies and usually give most of it away. I am about 20 lbs over but am not gaining. How are you doing? from another Italian lady.     ...............................................cookiemaker is my screen name.

     Re: Senior citizen

SmileHi, I am also a senior, approaching 77 years old. I am a short lady and getting shorter it seems. Although I have consumed at least 1 quart of milk every day of my life I am still shrinking. UG. Not much for eggs but will cook with them no more than 2 x a week. I gained after I quit smoking 10 years ago. Am about 20 overweight. I live near a lake and walk the one mile around it about 5 x a week at  6:30 A.M. I drink almost 8  8 oz glasses of water each day. I eat lots of vegs and just about no bread maybe 2 slices a week (although I love to make it). I haven't lost an ounce, but havent gained either. Love to cook and do so every meal except when I am eating cold cereal. I dont eat sandwiches.I do eat salads and cook with real olive oil sparingly.Spaghetti once a month. Sweet Potato is on my menu once a week, maybe.Very little starch foods. I have been eating LESS of meat lately. Sometimes I realize no protein for one day and take a Vitamin 12 to cover that.I am not a fan of fish. I smells up my little apartment.  So it is usually canned salmon or tuna. and that is ony a couple times a month.I do have a sweet tooth, but try to curb it. I try to eat a palm full of nuts once a day the kind that is good for health.

How are you doing?  Have you accomplished getting rid of any pounds? Let me know. Oh, I am also Hypotyroid.
