Re: Need a buddy to help motivate me to lose weight (support)

i want to help you lose weight.  last year i weighted 243 lbs and now i weight 170 lbs.  i can tell you that if you can believe that you can do it, you will do it.  it took me a long time to get that big and it took me a long time to get this size.  i really want to be 115 lbs.  but, i don't know how much time it will take.  I am on a plateau.  I used to wear a size 20 outfit.  I don't know what size I wear now.  Last time I went into the store to try on a dress it was a size 16 and it was too loose in some places and just okay in others.  So, I didn't buy anything.  I exercise 4-5 days a week and I try to eat right.  sometimes i don't.  but i am not discouraged.  I am going to keep on trying.  I want you to be encouraged and just try.  no matter what happens, don't be discouraged.  o.k.      Big SmileRight Hug

This is my second time around and i have been on for almost a year now. There are a couple of girls here at my job that are doing it with me which makes it easier.      Re: Need a buddy to help motivate me to lose weight (support)

Hi I am a lady works in school cafe I am 68 my weight is 190 use to be 145 till I got in the 50's and the weight just keep comeing on my husband is 74 and at 270 has had his knees replaced 15 years ago.

As you can see this is something we both need to work on for our health. It is hard to change the way we have been eating. We are active he drives the school van off and on I work 4 and 1/2 hr's a day and in the summer we mow the town park.

I have been tought to use the food pyarimad but it is so easy to grab something to eat that is easy to fix instead counting looking up what we need to eat and at the price of food we can't buy some of the fresh fruits and veg.

I think we will start tomorrow and count cal's I am thinking 2000 a day to start and see how that works.

I wish you well if you could just walk a little more each day even 10 more steps each day I am sure it may help. that I will also try.

Hi! I am 20 years old.  Since I was 13(there was a brief moment when I was 16, when I lost about 25 pounds...but gained it back) I have had trouble with losing weight. I am tempted by so many things. I have gone from 150 to 135 then back up to 150. I don't know what to do. Everyday I tell myself, that I'm going to be good...but that is just talk.I only use Splenda if I use sugar.

Re: Need a buddy to help motivate me to lose weight (support)

Hi there,  I have been there and I can tell you that it was not easy to gain that weight and it will not be easy to lose it either.Cool My top weight that I had gained was 243 lbs. Last year at this time I was on my way to losing one to two pounds a week.  I did it by joining a group of females that live in the same apartment building that I live in.  We watched our weight go down slowly.  The weight seems to level off now and then.  Sometimes, it will take a lot of patience to lose the weight.  I walked a lot.  Up and down the stairs and around the block and eventually I walked 10,000 steps on some days.  On average I was only able to use the pedometer 5 days a week.  I kept misplacing it.  I don't think it was on purpose.  I just couldn't  keep it up.  But I have to admit I did keep moving.  If I forgot.  I just did it on the next occasion.  I am currently 174 lbs and I wear a size 14.  My goal is 115 lbs or 120 lbs.  I am on a plateau that has lasted for months.  I  am not discouraged beacause I know that the body is mysterious and it will level out eventually.  I have been at this job for a while and if I keep trying--- I will succeed and so will you, if you try sincerely!

I am 68 yrs old and I am glad to see your note.  I am trying to lose weight and am on a plateau presently.  It is discouraging because no one in my circle is encouraging me to try to do it.

    I am 5'4" and 174 lbs.  I want to be 115-120 lbs.

You should be commended for trying!!!! You are even older then I and I know how age effects this . However I would have to say that it is even more related to stress .Don't give up or give in . Right now I am fighting the exercise that the rain will not keep me from ;I am going to put on music and DANCE! Also I will eat oatmeal here soon as a "breakfast' which is suppose to get one going GOOD LUCK!

Re: Need a buddy to help motivate me to lose weight (support)

    Hi Jen,

My name is Carol and I am right now in Alabama (live part of ;the year in NY).  After getting married and moving down here I gained about 30lbs.  All this southern cooking was killing me!  I was a life time member of weight watchers and decided to get my books out again.  I have since lost 12lbs and feeling so much better.  On weight watcher it is true you don't feel like you are on a diet.  I eat all over and I love Taco Bell's Gordita it's only 7 points.  It is a diet you can live with.  Everytime my husband and I go out to eat I look up the resturant and choose my meal by what I like at the least points.  One morning we stopped at hardees and I didn't have my weight watcher book with me so I orderd the low carb bowl, I really wanted the egg, ham and cheese, when I got home I looked in the book and the low carb bowl was 16points and the eggs sandwich was only 7!  I have tried all kinds of crazy diets and the only one you can live on is weight watchers.  If you start off slow, make small changes like real cheese 5 pts a slice to fat free cheese 1 pt a slice.  Mayo 5 pts...low fat mayo 1 pt and so on.  I wish you luck and you can e-mail me anytime....

    HI KESHA

MY NAME IS BRENDA. I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BE MY BUDDY ON THIS WEIGHT LOSS ADVENTURE. I AM 57 YEARS OLD AND A 100 POUNDS OVERWEIGHT AND TO BE HONEST, HAVE NOT BEEN THAT CONCERNED. BASICALLY, MY HUSBAND DIDN'T MIND AND SO I DIDN'T EITHER.....BUT NOW, I HAVE A NEW GRANDDAUGHTER THAT I WANT TO BE AROUND AS LONG AS I CAN. SO MY MOTIVATION IS HEALTH INSTEAD OF APPEARANCE.

I BEGAN MY DIET LAST MONDAY, EATING LOTS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND LIMITING MY MEAT INTAKE. I ALSO HAVE BEEN DRINKING LOTS OF WATER, WHICH IS A BIG CHANGE FOR ME. I NEVER DRANK WATER, ONLY COKE AND TEA. I DID REAL WELL LAST WEEK, LOST 4 LBS.,BUT TODAY, I AM STARVING.....

    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.........

Hi, First of all i think you are looking to loosr too much weight for your height, i would shoot for 140lbs, Continue walking and sometimes we need to add a few extra calories to then cut back and loose weight, walk at least 4 miles a day, working up to that of course, and i mean move not just slow walking, drinl plenty of water, no sugar, wheat breads only, nothing fried, and above all watch your portions.............. good luck[:'(] go go go

Hello Stephanie or anyone else looking,

My name is Gina.  I am 35 years old and happily married with 3 beautiful daughters who I want to be healthy.  I am a teacher and I'm on my feet daily.  When I get home the last thing I want to do is to exercise.  I currently weight 240, and I would like to lose 80-90 lbs.  If I could just get to 200, that would be AWESOME Big Smile.  I have applied to be on "The Biggest Loser" but I haven't received a response back yet.  I want to change my lifestyle so I can stop the horrible cycle of obesity in my family.  Everyone is over weight or has diabetes.  My mother died at 49, due to problems with diabetes.  As you said I, too, have failed at earlier attempts to lose the weight.  I would be grateful if you would be my buddy!  I  think this could be a journey we can take together.  I hope to hear from you soon!   GinaWink
