     senior citizen

    Hi there,

Havent been on for a couple of days and now I can't access the senior citizen forum.  What happened?  I know we had a few interested people.  Let me know if we're still around!

Hi Italian Cook,  I have not been here for a time either, I never saw a Senior Forum... I think it is good to be communicating with people that have some challenges unique to their life and how they deal with food and excerise.

Hi Spiffynana, Glad to see there's someone else out there ready to call themselves a senior citizen!  I think I have the exercise part down pretty well, using cardio equipment and taking kettlebell classes; but the dieting part seems to elude me!  Even had my thyroid tested since I was sure it was metabolic-but I fell in the normal range.  Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep at it and hope it kicks in.

Hi there memaof2 - Glad to have you on board.  What are your interests?  Do you have any difficulty in exercising, I know there are days my back says, "no more."  It took me a long time to learn to listen to my body; but that's tough to do when you are in an exercise class where the instructor and most of the people are younger than your kids.

    Hi Littlebus-

Welcome aboard!  I found the toughest thing is learning to cook only for two people.  If that's not tough enough I have a husband who can still eat anything like peanut butter or ice cream and still looks wonderful.  Congratulations on giving up smoking - that had to be difficult.

    Hang in there.

    Hi, Italian Cook,

I too am a senior citizen and am on this forum for the first time.  I have just started on a diet and exercise plan, and I need lots of encouragement.  My goal is to lose 20 lbs. to start.  I need to lose 40 lbs. in all but figure I need to set smaller goals for myself.  Let's keep the lines of communication open!

    Greetings Mature Gentle people,

I attend Weight Watchers and trying to keep my focus and exercise when I physically am able.  One of the items I have neglected is coming to this site.  Knowing that others are working at health by eating right and movement helps me a lot.  Thanks for sharing.

     Re: senior citizen

    Hi All,

I'm new to this site too.  Looks like we have started a new Senior Citizen forum.  I guess I am sort of a tweener....I'm 60 at some places that gets me senior citizen status and others it doesn't.  I tell ya, though, I feel a lot younger today than I did 20 years ago.  I was diagnosed about 4 years ago with auto-immune thyroiditis that I had probably had for years before the symptoms became severe.  Since then, it has become managed with HRT, I've lost 150 pounds, and I have the energy of a kid (well ok..that's a bit of an exageration, but I sure have a lot more than I use to.
